#AskAwayFriday Week #14

11/07/2013

For those of you who aren't familiar with #AskAwayFriday it's an amazing way to meet new bloggers, make friends and ask some questions to get to know them better!  10 questions are exchanged and answered on your partners blog, you can get as creative as you want and even get into our purses!

As always, tried and true we have the partners in crime, the ladies who created #AskAwayFriday...the wonderful Penny from The Real Housewife of Caroline County and Amber from Bold Fab Mom!!
The Real Housewife of Caroline County

We have some amazing co-hosts for the month of November...they are all very consistent #AskAwayFriday contributors and have all become good friends to so many in the blog community!

Dean aka Mrs_AOK is pretty freaking amazing!  She's been apart of #AskAwayFriday as long as it's been around I believe, which is pretty impressive!  She's become a great friend to me and the other ladies involved in #AskAwayFriday each week and I'm super excited she's moving to the East Coast!

Next up is the wonderful Ophelia from LatinaMamaRama, we've really enjoyed her joining in on #AskAwayFriday, she always has some really insightful and beautiful things to say!

And last, but certainly not least is Sarah from Lomholt's Family...she's a really great gal from Iowa and I really enjoy our little chats, she's become a good friend and a friendly face each week on #AskAwayFriday!  She's always up for exchanging with anyone and so friendly!

Okay, now that we've met everyone I'm going to add in a shameless plug on behalf of Penny & Mrs_AOK.  Even though the SWAP part of the Holiday Nail Polish Swap & Giveaway is going on now, remember on the 23rd of November to the 1st of December the GIVEAWAY portion will be going on!  There are some awesome prizes...use hashtag #HolidayColorSwap!
Now that we've got all the business out of the way, let's get into Week 14 of #AskAwayFriday!

In Week 14 I've been lucky enough to get to know the wonderful Beth from Structure in an Unstructured Life!  She's one amazing lady!  She's got 2 boys an awesome husband and she somehow manages to stay so organized that I'm jealous!  Her blog is definitely a must read for me and I highly recommend it to everyone!

Beth's questions she sent me are pretty radical this week so I'm really exited to just dive in...let's go!

1.  We're going to a local Bar & Grille.  What do you order to eat and what do you order to drink?  If it's a more pub/sports kind of place I'll go for a beer for a drink with a water with lemon on the side but if it's a slightly fancier place like Bonefish Grill where I went last night I can't help but order the Winter White Cosmo, it's just like Christmas in a martini!  For food, I love a good option of cheese fries but I also like boneless wings and Caesar salad.

2.  I see you have 2 little girls, one toddler and one infant.  What are your favorite and least favorite parts of these ages?  I consider them both toddlers now since Savannah is really moving on the walking but Hannah is 2 years old and Savannah just turned 1 year old in October, they are exactly 15 months and 3 days apart.  The hardest part for me is when they both need me at the same time, it's hard to juggle them both being in need of me for comfort at the same time because they get so darn jealous of each other!  My favorite part is that at the place they are right now they are REALLY interacting and it's the first time I'm really seeing them as sisters.  They love each other and you can tell but they fight like they love each other too!
3.  What is your best tip for balancing blogging and motherhood?  I'd say it's taking the time to find the time.  I've said many times before that I tend to blog when the girls are napping or long after they and the hubby go to bed.  I used to be the one going to bed at 10 PM but now I'm up until midnight or 1 AM sometimes just writing away.  I do my best to not let blogging/social media interfere with my time as a mom but lines do get blurred sometimes.  You just have to find a balance that works for you and your family.

4.  What would you rather watch a movie or TV?  I have some favorite TV shows I like to watch but I'm always happy to sit on the couch and watch a movie with my hubby!  I tend to have the TV on all day for background noise and right now I have a Barney DVD in on repeat.  The girls don't sit and watch all day but it is nice that for 5 minutes they will look up and there's just SILENCE!

5.  You recently wrote about marriage.  What do you wish you could go back and tell yourself before you got married?  "Don't stumble down the aisle" haha just kidding.  What many don't know is that David and I were only "together" about 10 months before we got married so our relationship and marriage has been a lot more like dating than being married.  I do wish that I had known how much work it really is, especially when you have a relationship that happened so fast like ours and then through in 2 little girls it gets hectic and we do have to work at it but he really is my best friend and I'm a very lucky lady!

6.  What is your all-time favorite book?  To be honest I'm not much of a reader.  I have a very short attention span so it's hard for me to commit to a book.  I did read the whole Twilight series (I'm ashamed to say) but I love reading books with the girls because they are short and to the point!

7.  If you had to pick one cause you are most passionate about, what would it be?  There are so many I love to support but as the owner of two pit bulls with two little girls I always get flak for being an irresponsible parent because of the breed of my dogs.  I've posted about this before that many people are just completely UNEDUCATED on the breed of pit bull.  They are the most loving, caring, loyal and protective animals and they are 2nd rated as the best family pet to the Golden Retriever.  My dogs grew up with my girls, they love them completely and my girls love them so educating the world on my breed is very important to me as well as protecting them from all the horrible people in the world who have made making them have that bad rap through my association with Bully Paws Rescue who I am an active volunteer and adopter!
8. What beauty product could you not live without?  As a makeup junkie that's a hard question but I'd say it's a tie between lip balm like Nivea's Raspberry Kiss or mascara...I think if you put mascara on it just automatically makes you look better but I like a full face of makeup or nothing at all.  I have a YouTube channel dedicated to makeup, mommyhood and we are even starting up "Day in the Life" videos (vlogs).

9.  You have a day completely to yourself - what do you do?  I don't know that I've ever had a full day off but I've definitely had big chunks of time off.  First, I'd probably go get a manicure/pedicure, followed by getting my hair done, followed by shopping, lunch, meet up with friends...all the things I probably would have done before the girls arrived but while that all sounds amazing, being at home with my family is pretty amazing too!

10.  In the spirit of Thanksgiving, what are you most grateful for right now?  There's so many things!  On my Facebook I'm doing 30 Days of Thankful.  I'm thankful for my amazing husband who I love and who adores me to the moon and back.  I'm thankful for 2 beautiful, healthy and happy little girls.  I'm thankful that I had the opportunity to become a mother.  I'm thankful for my blog doing well.  I'm thankful for my parents and my in-laws who are so wonderful to us and our girls.  I'm thankful for the roof over my head and the cars in the drive.  I'm thankful for 2 such sweet dogs as additions to our family.  I'm thankful for my trusted friends who have been around through everything.  There's just so much to be thankful for.  I do believe that we should be thankful ALL year not just around Thanksgiving but I do appreciate that we take the time at this pat of the year to express it!

Okay, how amazing was Beth?!?  She did wonderful and I'm so thankful that she was my partner this week!  I cant' wait to see the answers to the questions I sent her so definitely check her post down below with all the other things from our co-hosts and participants!  Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!!

I almost always have the boob tube on for background noise myself or some tunes to jam with! :) Your lil ones are beautiful, and I love the comment that they love each other and fight like they love each other! That is so very true for all three of mine! Have a great weekend!

    1. I've enjoyed you being with us these past couple weeks...thank you for joining in! My husband thinks I'm crazy for the added "noise" but I need it for some reason...maybe it helps me dull out any crying or screaming going on haha

  2. Awww loved your answers again! You're fabulous. I had a pitbull when Addison was first born, we had her since she was a puppy. Unfortunately during all the moving we had to find a new home. I was SOO sad to get rid of her. She was the best dog and Addison loved her to pieces.

  4. These are great. I totally agree on the Pits, any dog can get angry and bite, I'm sorry. These poor babes get a bad rap. It's heart breaking. Your pups look adorable with the cutie pie kiddles.
Haha, I can't believe you read the whole series of Twilight! That's a lot of reading for someone who doesn't read much, haha. I won't read books that thick! Have a great weekend!

    1. my pomeranian that now lives with my mom because she couldn't handle the girls has bit my husband and nipped at the girls more than my dogs have even made a sideways glance at the girls, they are extremely tolerable of all their antics! Yeah, I know but I think it was really kind of riveting so I kept going, most of all I think I read them all (5 books) in like 2 weeks haha

My grandmother has a pit bull and it is the sweetest dog ever! He lives inside and acts more like a prissy dog than a "tough mean" dog. He's so loving. I remember when I stayed there for a while with my oldest when he was a baby...everytime my son would cry the dog would run up the stairs and lay in the door way of my son's room until he stopped crying. People turn animals into something bad. And I actually read an article not too long ago that said the most "vicious dog" is NOT a pit bull. :-)

    1. they really are amazing dogs, I think I read the number one most vicious dog was the Chi or the Chow I can't remember which but Labs were on that list before pits ever were!

I loved your answers! I love your makeup too, girl. You always look beautiful with or without it. I feel the same way about that question about spending time away from the fam. When I get chunks of time away I always find myself doing blog stuff. Go figure! LOL. I think Bone Fish Grill was the first restaurant me and hubby went to while we were courting. We had that shrimp that everyone always talks about. I think it's called fire cracker shrimp? I forget! :)

  9. Ugh. It really should be easier to do this on an iPhone. Had to delete my previous comment- anyways, hell lol yes wings and cheese fries! Lol. I can't wait to watch my girls interact with eachother. The teen years should be fun ;) I have to admit, I'm cautious with my girls around pitbulls, but same with lots of breeds. I'm just less worries about what a Pomeranian will do to them as opposed to a pit. Not because they're "bad" but because there so strong.

    1. Our pits are about as gentle as a cat, they are so spoiled and lazy! they even refuse to lay on the floor they must be in a bed or on the couch, that's how ridiculously soft they area haha..I'm down for the wings and cheese fries...still working on putting together the meet up!

  10. I bet it's amazing watching your daughter bond as sisters. My baby loves watching his sister play so I'm just now getting to witness their love for each other. I blog when the baby is napping and Savannah is having some independent play time. I just take my computer to wherever she is. I don't think I could stay up late. I need all my Zs, LOL!!!

  13. Sorry I'm so late on the commenting! That Winter White Cosmo sounds so yummy! I love Cosmos and the cranberry sounds delish AND festive!! And great cause - I completely agree that pit bulls are a misunderstood breed! They can be the sweetest, most loyal dogs. I think no matter what breed, it is more in how you raise them. Great answers to everything! I loved reading them and had so much fun partnering with you and getting to know you better! Thanks Penny!!
