#AskAwayFriday Week 16 with Noise of Boys!
11/21/2013
Thanksgiving is next week folks! Are you ready? Are you traveling?
For those of you who aren't familiar with #AskAwayFriday it's an amazing way to meet new bloggers, make friends and ask some questions to get to know them better! 10 questions are exchanged and answered on your partners blog, you can get as creative as you want and even get into our purses!
As always, tried and true we have the partners in crime, the ladies who created #AskAwayFriday...the wonderful Penny from The Real Housewife of Caroline County and Amber from Bold Fab Mom!!
Our co-hosts for the month of November are amazing so check them out!
Dean aka Mrs_AOK is pretty freaking amazing! She's been apart of #AskAwayFriday as long as it's been around I believe, which is pretty impressive! She's become a great friend to me and the other ladies involved in #AskAwayFriday each week and I'm super excited she's moving to the East Coast!
Next up is the wonderful Ophelia from LatinaMamaRama, we've really enjoyed her joining in on #AskAwayFriday, she always has some really insightful and beautiful things to say!
And last, but certainly not least is Sarah from Lomholt's Family...she's a really great gal from Iowa and I really enjoy our little chats, she's become a good friend and a friendly face each week on #AskAwayFriday! She's always up for exchanging with anyone and so friendly!
Okay, now that we've met everyone I'm going to add in a shameless plug on behalf of Penny & Mrs_AOK. Enter into the Holiday Nail Polish GIVEAWAY!!! There are 3 prizes (so 3 times the chances to win!) and they are all awesome!
Now that we've got all the business out of the way, let's get into Week 16 of #AskAwayFriday!
Now that we've got all the business out of the way, let's get into Week 16 of #AskAwayFriday!
This week I'm exchanging with Jodi from The Noise of Boys...she's awesome and super brave! I've got two girls, I don't think I could handle two boys!
Jodi came up with some great questions that are also Holiday related so she's definitely in the spirit! Let's do this!
1. Do you get stressed preparing for either Thanksgiving or Christmas? Which one and why? I would have to say Thanksgiving is harder for me and more stressful, only because we host it at our house. I'm definitely one of those people who don't want others to bring food when I spend so much time making it myself. I also tend to put a lot of pressure on myself for the Turkey to be perfect!
2. What's your favorite Holiday memory or tradition (from your childhood or parenthood)? I don't really have any as a child. If I had to pick one it would be before my parents got divorced and we would spend Christmas at our cabin in the mountains. As a parent I think we are starting it this year in the girls being home for Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. Letting them open one present Christmas Eve, putting on a fire, having breakfast and family over for Christmas morning.
3. What's favorite Holiday dish to make or eat? If you make it share the recipe. I really enjoy ham for the Holidays. I know for most it's Turkey but I like Ham. My newest recipe for it is here. It's brown sugar, cranberry jelly and dijon mustard. Best of all it cooks in the CrockPot so there's more room in the oven!
4. What's your favorite Holiday song? If not, do you have one your dread hearing for the next 5 weeks? I love them all! I do however prefer when they are performed by Frank Sinatra or Bing Crosby. White Christmas is probably my favorite.
5. What is on your wish list for the Holidays? This is going to sound so pathetic but I've had the same wish every year since I was probably 9 or 10. I just want my family together. With divorced parents you never get that (or it's very rare). I've always just had a vision of all my family in the same room, the same place, laughing and happy. I want that even more now that I have the girls these days and when I do get it (like Savannah's birthday) I am just so filled with happiness and it means the world to me.
Now, for the purely selfish side of me...I want the Louis Vuitton Neverfull! It's so big it can be a diaper bag and my purse all in one!
6. Looking into the New Year, do you make resolutions? Considering that in 2014 I will be turning 30 (which I'm actually excited about) I'd like to do something like a marathon or a 5k or something like that. My birthday is in June so it's a more of a goal than a resolution.
7. What's a song, book or movie title that describes your life right now? Recently I've felt like I've been living in National Lampoon's. Life has been hectic and crazy and I have a husband who is both combined! Now with Holiday's coming up it's just going to be crazier so I'm just trying to buckle up for the ride.
8. What shows do you have to make mommy time for? Real Housewives, perhaps? I always make time for the Real Housewives! Most of the time my "mommy time" for watching TV is when the girls are napping or after everyone is in bed. I do watch Blacklist, Sons of Anarchy and American Horror Story: Coven...that's Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday covered! I catch up on Revenge when I can and Sleepy Hollow.
9. You have a choice for 30 days - you could have a nanny, butler, maid or a chef. What do you chose? MAID!!! With my Mother-in-Law around the corner I kind of have a nanny if I really need it (more like a baby sitter), my house is just too small for a butler (although this was my husband choice) and I don't mind cooking. Even if I did cook a maid would have to clean up after me so yeah, I'll go with Maid every time!
10. You just won the trip of a lifetime...where do you go? Oh, we're going to Norway! I've posted about this place before! Each room has a glass "igloo" roof so you can see the Aurora Borealis at night! It's beautiful. We loved Alaska and I've heard that Norway is the next step up from Alaska. Also on the list would be Disney World, Australia and Bora Bora!

XOXO
we have a Bing, Frankie, old school Christmas CD that's on repeat in the car from Thanksgiving weekend on!
DeleteYay!! This was cool, Penny. My parents divorced when I was really young so I completely understand your wish. I used to think it was weird that everyone didn't get together but because I was so young when they split, I guess I got used to it. Love your vacation spots! Never seen Norway! That sounds like it would be cool to visit. Looks beautiful too.
ReplyDeleteI told myself a long time ago that no matter whether David and I were together or apart we would be civil enough to always give the girls those "family" moments regardless. I know from experience how important they are.
DeletePenny it was so nice to learn more about you! I love AHS Coven too! (The Walking Dead is my favorite) Those are the only shows I watch except for Disney & PBS LOL! Thank you for swapping with me :-)
ReplyDeleteI love Coven! This weeks episode was crazy! Thank you for trading with me this week!
DeleteI would so totally choose a maid...at least for a little while! The hubby and I love Sleepy Hollow. And Norway does sound beautiful...I would love to see the Aurora Borealis. I also have to say that some good old Bing still gives me a tingle during the holidays. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeletedefinitely a maid!
DeleteAhhh Aurora Borealis, heard about that a lot of times and makes me wanna go see it too! I wish! Have a great Thanksgiving ahead! Enjoyed reading your answers, it's my first time to join AAF :)
ReplyDeletehave a great holiday too!!!
DeleteI am with you I like turkey but I would prefer a good Honey Ham. :) I also would choose a maid/nanny to help me with the house and my youngest son during the day.
ReplyDeletemmmm Ham haha

ReplyDeleteCan't believe it's almost Christmas! We may not have a grand celebration this year because of what hppened but I still love the season!
Yeah that same LV is on my wishlist too!!! The pictures of Norway are beautiful!!!!
ReplyDeleteyeah I'm obsessed with the bag!
DeleteI have a Rat Pack Christmas CD and it's my favorite! No one can sing those Christmas tunes like the old crooners!! And I would absolutely pick a maid as well! Welcome to the 30s club soon - I can honestly say I have loved my 30s better than my 20s. Although I'm starting to be knocking on the door of my 40s, which is freaking me out a little!!
ReplyDeletedon't freak about getting older! it's a blessing!
DeleteI'm loving that you picked Bing Crosby! I used to sing his Christmas songs all year long(I was an odd child), but it always makes the holidays feel so special! Also, American Horror story...ah-mazing!
ReplyDeleteoh Bing Crosby in the movie White Christmas is my version of heaven! I want to live that movie!
DeleteI can't even handle the holidays coming...I am stoked!!! Christmas lights and good food and beverages ... LOTS of beverages!! LOL

I can't wait to get our decorations up!
Deletei absolutely LOVE Bing Crosby and all the old school Christmas songs. They just seem to be more authentic to me. Everytime I hear White Christmas I flash back to my childhood. My grandmother put on her Christmas music starting The morning after Christmas and played it non-stop through New Year's! I LOVED and drive my Kiddies crazy doing the same thing...LOL
ReplyDeleteOMG - Sons of Anarchy though! Aaaah! we need to chat :)
dude Sons of Anarchy is insane this season and I can't wait until tomorrow's episode!
DeleteThe pictures from Norway are beautiful, it would be amazing to see that in real life. I had so much fun participating in Ask Away Friday and I'm looking forward to next week.
ReplyDeleteYour holiday wish list resonated with me so much. A happy family is so important for your kids to grow up around. On the other hand, a LV handbag as a diaper bag :( lol. American Horror Story: Coven is my SHOW!!! I always make time for that
ReplyDeleteI'm obsessed with all the AHS seasons!
DeleteAgain please take me with you to Norway!!!! As we go lets go get that bag too. ;)
ReplyDeleteokay, I'm in! It's only like $2k/night haha
DeleteA cabin in the Mountains?! I want a a cabin so bad! And I would absolutely love to spend Christmas in the Mountains! :-)
ReplyDeleteyeah I was lucky growing up we originally had a log cabin then we built a bigger one which is still my dream home but it got sold in the divorce...I miss it!
