Savannah's 1st Birthday Party!

10/20/2013

This past weekend we hosted Savannah's 1st birthday party!  As a family we celebrated on her actual birthday on Wednesday but thankfully our family and friends made a trip down to our small town to celebrate her special day with us!  The theme for the party was cowgirl so I'll break this down into categories to show everything off...if you want to know where I ordered things from I'll be happy to let you know...it wasn't anything super fancy but for a 1st birthday party it's all about the mom not the kid right? haha

DECORATIONS

In the past we've always done hot dogs and hamburgers...you know food food for a party but we ALWAYS end up with leftovers I don't want so this time I opted only for finger/snack foods!  I hung the banner over the mirror and put 4 balloons on either side of the able and added balloons to Savannah's high chair as well!  I placed the streamers on the edge of the table for a little extra flare but the kids ripped it off an hour into the party haha

CAKE TABLE

Friday night I placed some streamers in the corner behind where the cake table would be but it needed something else so I added balloons and that wasn't enough so I took out some old shutters I had a placed them on the table for a little of a "countryside" feel.  The cake was awesome...huge thanks to my mom for picking it up, they did a great job of making the decorations match her theme!  We also got 6 cupcakes which was perfect because we had 6 kids in the house.  My mom also made some chocolate chip cookies which only about 1/2 got eaten so we will be munching on those all week!

 OUTFITS

We kept with the country feel.  For Hannah I found this super cute coral/pink tutu dress at Target along with the super cute boots for both girls!   I already had the jean jacket for Hannah and the jean dress for Savannah.  David and I both rocked our cowboy boots and flannels for the party!  They both looked so cute that I couldn't stand it!

"Happy Birthday to Savannah..."

Savannah LOVED everyone singing Happy Birthday to her, she's truly a ham and loves everyone giving her 100% of their attention!

PRESENTS!!

We asked everyone to bring either an educational item or just a gift card.  Savannah got some super cute outfits for the fall and winter time, a dog that teaches her all the body parts and sings to her, a Cabbage Patch Doll 30th Anniversary Edition (I had one when I was a kid) and a brand new car seat!!  My girlfriend also makes custom bows and head bands so she made 2 for Hannah and Savannah.  Savannah kept saying "ohhhhh" as she was holding them and playing with the glittery bag!

FAMILY

Most importantly this party wouldn't have been so special if our family wasn't here with us to celebrate.  It is very rare for me that I get all my family under one roof but thankfully it was able to work for Savannah's party and it meant the world to me and David.  The girls also loved having all their Grandparents, Uncle and Aunt under one roof and a huge thank you to my BIL (brother-in-law) who got a family picture of us on Savannah's special day!

We had an awesome day celebrating Savannah and I'm so incredibly thankful that I have not just one but two beautiful, healthy, happy little girls that complete our family!

I'd love to see any of your birthday parties whether it was a 1st or 10th one!  What were your themes?  Are you a do-it-at-home party goer or a let's go to Chuck E Cheese planner?

  11. For my oldest son's 1st birthday party, we had a hog roast with a pony keg. lol It was more a party for the whole family to get together than just a 1st birthday party, but it was one of the most fun I was ever at lol
