Review & Giveaway! Baby's Journey One Step Baby Gate!

8/18/2014

The thought of choosing a baby gate for your home can be overwhelming. With all of the gates to choose from, where do you begin? You want a gate that is safe but also one that will look good in your home. Does that mean the simple pressurized wooden gate our generation grew up with or do you go for some fancy gate that can cost the same as a crib?  With its stainless steel design, the Baby's Journey One Step Baby Gate blends right into your home’s décor.

It is a walk-through style gate, which allows for entry to a room without trying to step over a gate. A major plus is that the door swings both ways. This is very helpful when installing on stairs, although you’d want to be sure to use the correct mounting hardware should you decide to place the gate in that location. The height of the gate, at 32 inches, made me feel secure that neither my kids or my dogs would be able to get over it at any point in time. Here are some details on this awesome gate:

  • Step 'n Secure foot mechanism for instant pressure fit in opening; No Tools, No Thread Adjustment
  • 32” H and fits openings 30” – 46” W (includes a 4” and 8” extension)
  • The one-handed, double-locking handle is easy for an adult to open, but difficult for a child
  • Modern stainless steel design for clear view
  • Perfect for pets
  • Stair Installation requires mounting 4 fixing cups (included)

I live in a 20 year old house with different sized doorways.  My doorways average 25 inches to 29.5 inches so unfortunately this gate doesn't work for my doors but in a newer home it would work wonderful.  However, my hallways are wider than most at 38 inches so I found the two extensions (4’ and 6’) to be very helpful. The gate fits openings 30-46 inches.

I was a little nervous using a pressure mounted gate at first.  Mostly, because I've used those wooden ones in the past but the pressure mounting hardware is very secure and stable.

A great feature on this gate is the foot mechanism. It allows for easy installation of the gate once it has been fitted for the space.  We were able to install the gate and use it within ten minutes.  It could have been five like the site claims but with kids running around it always takes twice the amount of time, right?

Overall, the Baby’s Journey Gate is a safe, functional gate with style.  I love having it in the hallway as a seperation between our living room area and our back bedroom/laundry area.  It helps me keep an eye on the kids without them being in my way.  Oh, and for the mom who think she can never go to the bathroom alone...I'm not having any issues with my new found freedom to roam the back of the house while the kids watch on from the gate.  I've worked with Baby's Journey before and I love all of their products!

Baby's Journey has been kind enough to provide me with a gate to giveaway to one of my readers!  As always, make sure you actually do the entries to be fair to everyone. We do have to check and if you haven’t actually done the entry – we won’t be able to count it! Then we’ll have to pick another entry and we’ll both be sad. Just follow the Rafflecopter directions. *US residents ONLY. 18 years and older please.

  3. I am always looking for the sturdiness of the gate. Emma is very strong and it has to be able to keep her from going down the steps.

My main concern is safety and the durability of the gate.

  7. My concern is if its sturdy enough not to break when a child is pulling on it, shaking it and kicking it.
